Ecosystem & Integration
This module is a member of the loTextra series, which serves as a fundamental building block of our ecosystem and embodies the Make Things Happy Philosophy. It is engineered to bridge the gap between rapid prototyping and industrial-grade reliability.
Hardware Synergy: The module is compatible with both IoTsmart and IoTbase series.
Software Power: This hardware compatibility unlocks the full potential of the IoTflow platform. It enables you to:
- Create custom Node-RED nodes effortlessly.
- Integrate via MQTT with third-party global platforms like Blynk.
- Scale your project from a single node to a complex industrial network.
Key Features
-
Eight Digital Channels: The module provides four digital inputs and four digital outputs.
-
High-Voltage Input: Digital input signals can handle a maximum level of up to 36 VDC.
-
Powerful Outputs: Digital output signals are generated by NPN transistors with impressive parameters:
- Collector Current: 8A (peak up to 16A)
- Voltage: up to 100 VDC
- Power Dissipation: 20W
-
Superior Isolation: All channels feature individual galvanic insulation with an electrical insulation strength of 3750 Vrms.
-
Status Indication: The status of the digital channels is clearly indicated on the module.
Flexible Operation Modes
The IoTextra Octal2 offers two primary modes of operation, providing flexibility for your project:
-
GPIO Mode: Input state reading and output signal control are managed directly using the AP0-AP7 signals on the HOST-P connector.
-
Mode: Control and reading are handled via the serial I2C bus using an integrated I/O expander (TCA9534 or compatible).
You can connect up to 16 modules to a single bus. Furthermore, a hybrid mode is possible, allowing you to use the AP0-AP7 signals for some channels and the I/O expander for the rest.
Compact Design & Applications
The module's compact size of 47x56 mm and integrated mounting holes allow for easy installation in a base module or a Raspberry Pi.
The IoTextra Octal2 is ideal for a wide range of applications, including:
- Industry
- PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Robotics
- Data Acquisition Systems (DAS)
- Energy Industry
- Scientific Equipment
- Smart Home
- Consumer Electronics
- Education
